External SCSI PCMCIA card readers on E-mus?

Postby mingle » Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:44 pm

Hi all,

Has anyone had any luck using external SCSI card readers on E-mu samplers?

I have an E-Synth and would like to use good old CF cards to backup my internal SCSI hard disk... An adaptor like this would be what I'd like to use:

http://item.express.ebay.com/Spyrus-RD3 ... xpressItem

Has anyone else had any luck with these devices?

Cheers,

Mike.

I have a few different card readers that tested with my E6400 and E4XT. I was able to access CF cards up to 4GB. I attempted a low-level-format and my sampler locked up. So far all I have them to back up sample cds and sound roms.

I'm thinking about swapping out the floppy for a CF reader.

Do some research on the Spyrus/McDisk models. Some models do not support CF.

Hi dahknee,

Thanks for the update. I was also looking at a SCSI to IDE bridge, then using an IDE card-reader. I know someone on the Yahoo Emax group has done this successfully with an Emax HD, so I'm hoping it's also possible with the later E-mu boxes...

Cheers,

Mike.

I have those too. I wasn't able to get it to work. Also the IDE CF reader does not allow for CF hotswapping.
