Sampleing From The Test Tones Section

Is there a way to resample the test tones in the emu or do you have to record to an external medium and then sample it back to the emu.

well i wouldn't loop it if i were you(connecting the out puts to the inputs). i did that a few times on my darla, and the feed back as incredible.

what i did to sample my test tones to make my sounds was that i sent them out to cd or md and then sampled them back. oh and when you get down to doing the saw, reverse it, you will get a ramp and by laying a saw and a ramp, you will actualy get a modulating sound, that kind of sounds like a slow saw tooth lfo.

Darla is a very nice soundcard from Echo Audio.... I assume that's what you're talking about S&H?

hmmm ... could be that too - didn't know about that piece of kit. It wouldn't surprise me though if SnH named his EMU!

Sorry man, we hijacked your thread.

Really, if SnH doesn't know how their probably isn't a way.

I might recommend using a software tone generator (I have a synth so unfortunately can't give the the name of one. They've gotta exist though). and generating the tones on your computer. Then send em to the EMU via SCSI. To tell you the truth though I don't know much about the sample tones.

I'm going to say no, there's no way to internally sample the test tones. I tried for a while to do so, but never figured out a way.

BUT, it's worth recording them to your computer anyway. If you look at the waveform of the test tones, it's REALLY messed up (lots of overshoot at the waveform transitions or 'corners'), far from a pure waveform. These distortions give the test tones an interesting character, I think.

probably the best way is in soundforge, you can just generate a tone, then send it over via scsi. also, i think all the EMU roms come with waveforms on them.

Does anyone have any of those E-Mu ROM waveforms? If so can you save it out to a bank and upload it here? I'd like to see how they do it.

I already do it that way (check my post in that thread)... I want to see how *they* (E-Mu) do it on their sound ROMs that they sell. I believe it's possible to save banks out from the ROMs.
