can anybody help me with a good sine sample to use as bass.
I tried sampling from different sources but they all came out unsatisfactory.
I even tried TR808 and 909 basskicks but they fade out so looping is not that nice.

what emu do you have. if you have the ultra do this

go into master, utilties i believe and look for a button that says tone. turn your mixer down though or you will blow your head off. once you go into tones, you should hear a sine wave test tone at A4, or 440 hz. sample that. there you go
if you don't have any test tones. give a shout and i will send you the sine off of my sampler.

I sampled them on 50Hz... for bass I guesss the lower the better right?

Better to sample them on an actual note so that when you assign to a voice and set the origin your keyboard will play the right notes.

A is the easiest note to use because it uses natural numbers.

Just remember that A4 = 440, and every A note one octave up or down from there is either multiplied or divided by two, respectively.

So A3 = 220, A2 = 110, A5 = 880, A6 = 1760, etc...

actualy... this goes with my new post. you sampled the tone at 50hz, and if you use the trick i layed out in a long winded explaination on the previous post, you get a perfect 440hz, or A4. your loop size would be 882, and that would make a perfect loop and your a4 will be at exactly 440hz.

god knows how you would set this on the sampler though. your orgin would have to be g#1, sort of. ah, you would lose it when you try to tune it. but hey somewhere on there you would get A4... mmm.

Better for him to sample it at 55hz. Then he can set the origin to A1 and he'll be all set.

simplest way i find is to use the simple synthesis in soundforge, i knocked up a couple,

40hz sine for bass

and a 440hz for sample and hold :mrgreen:

they should loop ok also, i'll leave them up a little while, let me know how you get on
