Another data wheel problem

Unfortunately my Ultra's data wheel has started playing games on me. The worst part is that it's not one of the known issues i was able to find with a search, like J.Sigle's fix page.

Here's how it behaves: when i turn it clockwise once it moves the cursor to the next menu item, the second time it does nothing, the third time it moves back to the previous menu item and the fourth time it does nothing. this cycle is repeated constantly, so the sequence of the cursor movement in the menu would be: +1,0,-1,0,+1,0,-1,0,+1,0,-1,0... . in the master/utils recalibration page EOS counts 1 and 0 clicks in succession (1,0,1,0,1,0...) and when i press the calibrate button it posts a bad calibration error message.

this issue started when i removed the front panel ribbon cables and also the ferrite piece and then switched on the device without the ferrite. I have now put the ferrite back in it's place but the problem persists.

hi .

i have to use a pc keyboard (digital option) on mine ive had these problems with entire Banks erased!! its a serious problem.

only problems with the keyboard option is (price digital card) and having to hold down two keys at once to get a function.

just so you know ...it must be the front panel buttons/jog wheel ...because using the PC keyboard there are no problems regarding random or ghost parameter changes.

hope you find a solution.

delete - you need to replace the encoder. These are cheap parts but need a bit of soldering skill to replace. From your description I would say that one of the encoder switch contacts has gone.

Hi,

Do you know anyone in London who can fix EMU's (for a reasonable price)? I got a EMU E4XT Ultra that's not booting up and a broken jog wheel.
