Where is the internal IDE connector

Postby javamusic » Mon Jun 09, 2008 7:38 pm

Hi,

Want to install an internal IDE Drive for my e6400 classic but don't see any IDE connector on the mother board, I see SCSI, but not IDE. Where is it?

Thanks.

Your E6400 classic doesn't have an internal IDE connection. Only the ultras have the IDE

So it is imposible to use an IDE drive with the 6400? Can I use a SCSI IDE adapter?

You can definately use an SCSI-->IDE adapter.

I'm using such an adapter to connect an (IDE)-CF-Reader
to the EMU ULTRA XT. I've already a HD connected to the
IDE slot, so this is the only way to install a second IDE device.

Look at that "bunch of scsi ..." thread. Someone tells where
to get these adapters cheap, i.e. only 29$.

THeyre still up. Search on IDE SCSI Adapter -

Seems like the price is hovering around $30 on ebay - this is the best deal since shipping is free.

All these things do is make an IDE devices look like a SCSI interface to the Ultra.

http://cgi.ebay.com/SCSI-To-IDE-Bridge- ... 18Q2el1247

I bought 3 in the last auction- one for my 5000, one for the Platinum, and one for the ESI-32.

I bought them for the ultras so I can use a SCSI-IDE-Compact Flash drive and an IDE drive simultaneously, allowing vastly easier sample transfer to and from a Macbook, and so I can use Translator for offline sample management and editing :-)

i cant make SCSI->IDE->CF work on my 5000 ultra. I've tried all possible configurations of master / slave for the adapter. my ultra boots but doesn't detect the CF as a drive. My CF-IDE adapter is dual, could this be the problem?

HI does this idea work when transfering sounds? if I have an e6400 and my sounds are backed up on a hard drive which was formatted EOS 4.7 fat32 by my e4xt ultra, if I have a ide to scsi adapter, will the sounds be able to be loaded by the e6400? Basically can I load sounds from my e4ultra to a hard drive to E6400 regular?

thanks
