E-SYNTH and the difference between ultra and classic models

Postby ale2000 » Mon Jun 22, 2009 11:59 pm

I'am about to buy a E-Synth Rack Classic with 64mb memory, sessions ROM and 2Gb hard drive.
I could probably get this for 180€. Should i go for it?

I'am also wondering that is there really big difference between Classic and Ultra models?
I know that there is faster processor in ultras, but how does this appears in use.
I'am currently using software and i do not have any experince about e-mu samplers,
so i was just wondering about that would sample loading times and other processes be that much slower that
it will affect my normal workflow.

Thanks.

Good prize, I would take it, at least.

Well, you're in a good position with E-Synth, if not already installed you can update to latest Classic EOS 4.62 without the need for additional Flash-Ram. You get almost all the functions the Ultra has, only things like BEST MUNGER are left out, due to faster processor in Ultra. So yeah Ultra is faster with loading ,presets switching, offline calculations in Sample Edit menu, but nothing to go crazy about, i.e. 'affect your workflow', IMHO.
