Hi

so I recently bought a e6400 with a 4.1 gb hd & 32 mb sample ram. I'm new to hardware on the whole as this is my first piece of kit. started it up and was going to run through the quick start tutorial in the manual but found that it didn't have any presets in there? thought perhaps they were all wiped before it was sold to me?

with the sampler I also got a cd with it which says contains a few drum loops and bass sounds.

so I was thinking about the best way to hook this thing up. either a zip drive or run it into my pc through an scsi card? I don't have either of those or even a scsi cable yet.
its also possible to record directly into the sampler too right? where do i setup this on the e-mu interface? I had a look through the manual but couldn't find anything about doing this.

i've seen lots of leads and converters that offer usb to scsi ,do any of these lead converters work?

what version of the eos should I be running preferably?

I am not using SCSI at all. i am simply using MIDI i/o to control everything. To transfer samples i am pulling HDD out (i don't have zip or scsi CD rom) and i am installing HDD to my dekstop computer. Keep in mind that HDD must be formatted in FAT32 to be accessible in your desktop computer. Once when you fill that HDD you won't need to transfer samples anytime soon but you can install removable HDD if you plan to remove it constatly from your emu.

Preferably you should use latest EOS v4.7

what OS is it on currently? is your e6400 and ULTRA? as far as upgrading to 4.7 , you first need to make sure that you have at least 2 mb of flash ram installed.

as far as setting up scsi connections, what exactly do you want to do with that? send samples from your computer to the EMU? if not, you can just sample into the emu thru the inputs on the back.

sorry for the late reply.thanks for the information, the os is 3.00b my emu is the classic not ultra although it has been upgraded in spec. i've mainly been producing on a pc inside a daw using vsts my hardrive on the pc contains a good couple of gig of samples (beats and sounds) which I produced in orion. I was thinking of sending some of these breakbeats over to the emu.or perhaps build some breakbeats from scratch using the same techniques I use on my pc (using a sample of an old break or using individual hits layered over more hits and eq'd) I would also like to sample some dvds and the sound or music from films.
