Time for the hard drive upgrade...

Postby mr_spine » Mon Mar 08, 2010 12:18 am

I'm finally fed up of constantly browsing CDROMS and zip disks. I've got an E6400 Ultra with EOS 4.7. Where can I get the mounting kit to install a HDD? There's a million HDD's around. Which should i go for and not go for, and whats the largest capacity?

I know this has been asked plenty of times but reading endless threads has left me more confused.

EDIT: Ok, things are a bit clearer now. I need....
a 2.5 HDD (I'll go for about 80gb),
a 3.5 to 2.5 IDE adapter,
and will need to make the reverse power cable.

Only question remains is which drive to go for, there's a million options on ebay...

Some people here in this forum are using the "Western Digital Scorpio Blue"-Series.
This HD is actually available in with 80GB & 120GB.
The relevant models (PATA/IDE) have a "BEVE" in their name, e.g. WD800BEVE or WD1200BEVE.
