ESI-4000 Turbo question

Postby thegetawayplan9 » Sun Oct 14, 2007 12:15 am

If a ESI-4000 has OS 3.02 does that mean it has the turbo upgrade or can u have that OS without the upgrade. I thought I read that OS 3 turned the units into a TURBO but I wanna make sure.

No, the turbo upgrade is a hardware upgrade that gives you extra inputs and outputs. This hardware upgrade will only work with OS 3.02.

I have an ESI-4000 with OS 3.01 which has the turbo option installed and working fine, Ive read elsewhere that OS 3.02 is the same as 3.01 except for a SMIDI bug fix.

OS 3 added some nice filters - the turbo adds a partially lame effects unit with messy routing but the best feature was the multi outputs). I still have my ESI-32 + Turbo card sitting around in a storage locker if someone wants to make an offer on it :-)

You would be looking at 50-80 quid on ebay for a fully maxed out esi 32 in good working order. Picked up a couple of esi4000s for that price recently, seems to be the norm.
