Is it an e64 or e6400? I have a non-ultra e6400 with eos 3.0 or something. I don't use EOS link but when it's hooked up to Recycle it doesn't leave much to be desired. Check emulatorarchive.com for full specs of each of the models (ultra and non-ulra)

I had an e64 back in the day, and yes, they definitely have Z-plane filters. Check the link below for EOS revisions, one of them added 3 new types of morphing filters. I think you would need a flash ram upgrade to use the newest EOS 4.01 Classic. Keep in mind they only take 64MB and use hard to find 30-pin SIMMS. I really liked mine but eventually sold it to get an E4X (more memory, outs, etc.).

afaik the e64 is pretty close to the e6400 but lacking in upgrade options, the e6400s arent far off the ultras in features, less the rfx and extra cpu speed and i think beat munging. Yes the z-planes are there, and if you upgrade to 4 classic you get a tigth set of features. Alas as already stated sourcing mem for the e64 is getting harder  still if the price is right
