Downgrading from 4.70 to 4.61

Postby edoonacid » Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:43 pm

Hi all!

I am new here, I just joined this community.
I have the following question: I'd wish to downgrade my E6400ULTRA with RFX-32 and extra Inputs from EOS 4.70 to 4.61.
Can anyone tell me a step-by-step procedure so that i am sure I won't do anything bad?
I already upgraded another machine from 4.10 to 4.61 using the Flash Prep and following the procedure described in the sticky. I had no problems with that.
But I couldn't find in the forum a description for the downgrading.

Thanks so much!

Should be a straight job, can't see any downgrade-"procedure" there, you put in your EOS 4.61 floppy and start sampler, it should say EOS 4.61 found, overwrite Flash bla ? > YES, after it updated Flash/rebooted 4.61 should be there. You may/should then initialize EEProm and recalibrate the volume and rotary encoder. That's it, unless anyone has to add something to it (?).

Hi Rascal

Thank you for your reply.

What do you mean with "You may/should then initialize EEProm and recalibrate the volume and rotary encoder" ?

How can I do this?

Thanks

One more question: can I downgrade leaving the RFX card installed? Or could this cause any troubles?

Thanks

First you initialize the EEprom under Master > Utils > Tests (PW is 1358) > More > InitEE
Then you recalibrate under Master > Utils > Recal... (it's also in the manual, see Index Recalibrate or Recalibration).
Note the unit works without doing that, it's recommended by E-mu, I would do it / I did so everytime I updated EOS.

Now I don't have the RFX, I can't see why you should take it out of the unit just to update its software.
