IDE SDD working ?

Postby aerodrink » Fri Feb 25, 2011 4:43 pm

Hi people,

I've recently purchased a Transcend IDE SDD drive (64 Gb) to put in my e6400 Ultra, and just received it today.
Despite all my efforts, it seems like the drive never shows up in the OS. It is connected to the internal IDE socket via a 44->40 pin IDE adapter (that already worked like a charm with my 2.5" 7200rpm HD). I've configured the drive in Master, respected polarity + special E-MU power connections settings, etc. but it seems like I'll have to use the SDD for something else ...

Do any of you have had success using SSD IDE disks in the E-MU ? May I have done something wrong ?

Thanks for your feedback !

I was planning on installing an SSD, but then I saw this message from TheEmulator regarding Kingspec SSDs:

See the same thread for my comments regarding the InnoDisk FiD2.5” ATA6000 (also failed but got a bit further than the Kingspec)

Thanks for your feedback !

In fact, I had purchased a SCSI compact flash reader 2/3 years ago but the site http://www.scsi4samplers.com was closed since; that's why I was wondering about a SSD disk.
I found out that the same guy reopened a new site with CF readers : http://www.scsicardreaders.com/cfcard.asp
I ordered 3 of them :)

The big advantage of those readers is that they can access 32 Gb CF cards, which is enough storage to me (plus transfering sounds from a PC doesn't require to open the sampler and unplug hardware)

Anyway, this is a very good news to have a reference of a working SSD on E-Mus !
