On the E-MU support page it asks you to select platform, PC or Mac. I think if you select PC it will offer you the exe file. I did it, this week, with files from that site, so it is possible dont worry.

If all else fails I could probably email you the files I used - but I think, if you go back and download them, making sure you've selected 'PC' you'll be fine.

As I remember;

Formatted HD floppy from PC.
Download the flashprep exe from emu site.
Copy to root of drive c: (this seems to be important).
Run the flashprep exe. Answer a: when prompted for a drive.
Put floppy in Emu and switch on.
Follow prompts on Emu..

Try starting again, following the above and let us know how you get on.

Best of luck

The thing i tried was;

downloaded flashprep.exe to the desktop for windows (im on xp)
formatted the a drive to FAT.
ran flashprep, choose a, it seems to make the disk..
put in 2 diff samplers & nowt happened.

I guess I'll try downloading it again. then I'll PM you Jah. cheers.

There's a post on here somewhere that says don't run it from the desk top, run it from the root. You'd have to open up 'my computer' - cut and paste it to C:\ and run it from there in a DOS window. I'll try and find the post.

just been trying again.

no joy. I also tried formating the floppy FAT and also formatting in the sampler first...booted into safe mode/ command prompt and did it all from the C:\ drive..

I just noticed the file is c_flashp.exe or something & not flashprp.exe as stated in the sticky..

Just gonna PM you Jah.

OK, sorted. Cheers Jah for sending me the file.

The problem was with the more recent version of flash pre named 'c_flashp.exe' < or similar something similar. This was the file I downloaded from the EMU site.

'FLASHPRP.EXE' worked first time. :grin:

I upgraded from 4.10 to 4.70 using this file.

^^ I put a link up for it.

How do I upgrade my E-snyth rack Classic? It's currently on 4.10. I bought Flashprep floppy off ebay but putting it in the E-Synth and booting does nothing.
I am on mac and have no access to PC. Emus site seems to have nothing on it about the E4 anymore.
All the very best.

Sorry I am not sure....All I had to do was get the correct version of Flashprep, place it in the sampler & turn it on, then follow the instructions on-screen..... Its been a while since I did all that now & I am not sure how different the E-synth is...
