Hi,

If i created different CORD settings which had everything assigned/configured in a way with which i was happy with, then am i able to save these (like a template) for future usage. So (for instance), if i have Synth Strings #01 and i program a bunch of CORDS for this Preset which i am happy with, obviously i SAVE this as a Preset. Then, if i have Synth Strings #02 and i want to apply the exact same CORD settings as in Synth Strings #01, then do i manually have to punch them in again, or is there a way i can (Import ??) apply the settings to the SS#02 Preset ??

It says in the manual you can store SEQUENCES but i don't think CORD data is stored in this catagory (as i think it comes under VOICE parameters) ??

Yes you can create a template to use as the basis for other presets, this is how I do it.

Method 1 (Key map and cord template)

This is useful if you usually make your own samples and are using the same note/cord assignments frequently.
Eg.
Sample 1 -- original note.. C2 -- lowest note .. C1 -- highest note F2
Sample 2 -- original note.. C3 -- lowest note .. F#2-- highest note F3
Etc

With this method you are able to add samples to a pre-built empty template.

1. Make the first multisample key map preset and then build the cord settings as required
2. Save/Export this preset
3. Now delete all the samples in the E-mu memory using the sample manage page
4. Save/Export this no sample preset as "keymap C cord 1" (or whatever)

To use this template do the following

1. Load the template
2. Load required samples (or sample from synth/VST instrument) in the correct order as previously mentioned,
eg. 001--C1 ......002--C2 etc

When you go to the preset it will be key mapped and cords will be built and ready.
Now name and save this preset

Method 2 (Cords only template)

This creates a cord template that can be used on existing presets to change the cord settings.
This is achieved buy adding a preset to the template as follows.

1. Build the required cords inside a preset
2. Save/Export this preset
3. Now delete all the samples in the E-mu memory using the sample manage page
4. Go to the preset edit screen and delete all but one of the sample slots in the group
5. Change the sample number of the remaining empty voice to 999
6. Save this preset as "Cord template 1"

To use this template do the following

1. Load template and Load the preset you wish to use
2. Select this preset, Go to preset edit,
4. After ensuring the preset is combined into G1, select G1 and copy the group to the template preset
5. Go to the template preset and combine the newly added preset with the original G1 voice 999
6. Delete voice 999
7. Rename and export the new preset

This might seem a lot of work but once you have done it a few times a preset can be added to a template in a few seconds

Thanks man, this worked fine (though it took a bit of time and i have not got the procedure memorized yet). Although it worked great i am a bit unsure about one part of the procedure.

When you say "Load template and Load preset" what i did was open the Bank which has the template in (i guess i will eventually have a Bank with a handful of templates in, but at the moment there is only one template in this Bank), then MERGE it with another Bank (eg. Synth Strings Bank) which has the Presets in which i would like to apply the template to.

As i say, it worked fine so i am assuming what i have done is correct ??

The E-mu will not allow you to add pre made cords to a preset.
Logic dictates you have to copy the preset into a pre made sample-less preset (the template).
In order for the template to work it needs a voice number to create a group, so I use 999
Once the preset is copied into the template the template group can then be selected and the newly added group can be combined into it.
It's a bit of a fiddle to work around, but it saves building a new set of cords for each preset.

REMEMBER
Add a preset to a template via Group copy

Would you store all your templates all in one Bank (called 'CORD Templates') and name each one (each Preset) 'CORD Template #1', CORD Template #2' etc etc ?? i am guessing you could fit (if you wanted to) 999 Presets of this type into a single Bank ??

I separately store my preset templates in one folder of the hard drive called TEMPLATES.
Each one serves a different purpose, and is named accordingly.
Some are multi presets others are singles.

Examples
Key maps
midi clocks modulating filters or volume or pitch
Envelope 3 warping pitch for risers with C/C controls to taylor envelope
LPF HPF BPF presets for synths
1 oscillator, 2 oscillator, 3 oscillator, 4 oscillator detuned synths
LFO/midi clock cross fading 2 presets
Random LFO to filter for sample and hold effects
Ect

Mostly with C/C assignments to various parameters

So all of your different templates are placed in one folder rather than being stored in a Bank(s).
