It sounds like you are moving past a whole cycle and starting over again, does that make sense. What frequency is the wave you are using?

I enjoy mucking about with single cycle loops, it's the only time I actually use the sample calculator, but I get frustrated with finding a source for accurate waves. I know that home made single cycle loops are more fun but I'd also like a perfect set of cycles to muck about with. I've used sound forge in the past to make cycles, it's very good but it takes too long to build up a selection of cycles. I'd love to find a well documented and varied library of cycles covering all the frequencies. I tried analoguesque but I wasn't really interested in their presets, I just wanted the raw samples. They seemed reluctant to give me a list of the individual samples used. Does anyone know where I can get a whole load of single cycle samples?

I bought the analogesque range and they are well worth it just to see how the sounds are structured. There are some good sounds in the collection IMHO.

all my samples are at 440 or so. plus or minus a few hz this way and that, probably more so on the plus side. with the pmw thing, i was using a cycle and a half because i was concerned about pitch shifting. for example, if you take a sine wave and cut it in half, the wave is now 880 hz. that kind of thing. i will have to play round with it some more and see how it acts. maybe i am over concerned with it.

i get my waves from the test tones section of course, and now, i think i am going to start branching off into experimenting with sampling actual songs. you now, take a sample of so track, with all the drums, and instruments playing and just set up a loop size of 100 and see what i get. then go throught the whole process that i do to make my sounds. just think, you could create and entire song by sampling single cycles from copyright protected songs and they will never know.

maybe you (illinformed) should check out those series that nads was talking about. might be very good. hell, i might check them out. i might go back and start ripping stuff out of my emu library cd that i bought a few years ago.

realtime PWM on the emu???!!?!?!!!???11

I love how I keep learning things with this machine. Big ups for that tip! :slayer:

Hi, I've just logged in for the first time, and only found this page tonight, and so haven't read all the posts on this forum yet, but I did discover this pulse width thing a while ago on my old EPS, and also discovered that, provided I didn't sample too much resonance on a square wave sweep, I could get a reasonable amount of resonant filter emulation by scanning the wave as a single cycle loop using envelopes and LFOs and the mod wheel. However, the purchase of my beloved E5000 removed the necessity for that, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried loading up a few samples into the Emu and setting the start point as near as possible to the end point of a loop?
I did this by accident a while back, and the sampler started playing back successive random segments of every sample in memory, along with interesting snippets of noise in between. Very nice.
Also, I discovered that by setting the loop point to almost the end of the sample, so the pitch rises, the higher notes produce some brilliant aliasing FX, especially with modulation at different speeds. Fantastic.
Hope this is of use to someone or it has'nt already been mentioned somewhere else.

how do you set a start point after the end of a loop point? do you use the 'sstart cord?

along wth the mod, i found that if i took two square waves, detuned them, and set an lfo to control the sloop destination on both, but with different varitions and speed, and if i held the note long enough, only sometimes, i would actualy get a strange stereo effect going on, all the sudden the sound would split and it would sound like the tone was affected with chorus or something like that. you guys had this happen yet? i can't seem to get it to happen consistently.

really odd. oh and how is that for a run on sentence

Ooops! Looks like I got myself confused in my eager enthusiasm.
I think I was actually referring to my EPS when I wrote that bit about the random sample triggering.
The loop point doesn't actually go beyond the end point of the sample[Another cock up],but is set right up to the end where it seems to do strange and unpredictable things. I don't know where I got the notion that you could go beyond the end point, but hey, that's the kind of wacky crazy guy I am.
Apologies for any confusion. Steve.
