Get any IDE drive that uses less than 1.7amps spinup current.

Get under 20 gig if you want to format to the Emu file system, or else you'll have to use FAT, and have EOS 1.7.

The power cable is special. Don't blow anything up now.
I've gone.

SCSI Bob's right. Get one that's less than 20 gigs if you can. But I got a 20 gig Maxtor and it worked just fine. But you only have acces to about 18 gigs. Don't get a Quantum Fireball. That's what my local EMU dealer tried to sell me and it just didn't work. It was because of the 1.7 amps thingy.

So what IS the deal with the power cable? People always say 'it's reversed, if you use a normal cable it will kill your hard drive'. But if that's all there is to it, couldn't you just turn the connector around???

I actually have an extra IDE mounting kit, ra coon. Let me know if you want it, or they're cheap from EMU.

Klaseed , I probably met you in SF , did you ever go to the Guitar Center, pretty hard to avoid it , as it was the only music shop for miles , except that dodgy one on market called 'World of Stereo' . I had a dig at San Fransiscans , but you know the way they are about software over there, I lived there for 4 years in the 'Polk Gulch'.

I have a friend called Rafael Salinas coming over from SF to NY, you might have met him too , SF is a pretty small place, Im gonna take him down to the 'Konkrete Jungle night'

Do you ever go to 'The Top' on Haight

Yeah, I love the Top, I used to go there all the time (when I was going out every night). We probably have met. I know some guys at GC, they hook me up when I need cables at 8PM or whatever. There's a new shop called robotspeak that is excellent, the guys that own it are great; it's worth checking their website if you're in the market for synths, actually.

I don't remember a Rafael, but my memory ain't so good, if you know what I mean.

I was in New York a couple of months ago, but managed to not hear any dnb at all. It's cool though, cuz I got to see Speedy J, Richie Hawtin, and Monolake.
