EOS 4.61 vs 4.7 filters

Postby fsm » Wed Oct 23, 2013 7:02 am

Read somewhere that one trade-off the developers made when enabling realtime tweaking of resonance in 4.7 was to lower the quality of the filters somehow. Does anyone know anything about this, or has even made an a/b comparison between the filter in 4.7 and, say, 4.61?

Where did you read that?
I can only really say that the filters didn't sound any different to my ears after the upgrade.
Anyway l couldn't work without the FAT feature found only on EOS 4.7 because I use a removable IDE drive and ZIP disks formatted in FAT for sample transfers and backups to a computer.

Read about it roughly a year ago at an info site about EOS, where someone went through the pros and cons of 4.6 and 4.7. Have looked all over for this site, but can't find it. Anyway, if you didn't notice any difference then there *is* no subjective difference significant enough to worry about I suppose. And I agree that the FAT feature is indispensable.

There is no difference between the Filters-Sounds in 4.6 and 4.7.

I can recall reading that too, but tbh, the emu filters are still the best around in my studio (not having any analoge pendants)

edit: It was on this site ;)

Ah there it is, the quote I was thinking about! And here's the page (down by now, but available at the wayback archive):

Thanks for the input - will stick to 4.7 then.
