Just a quick plug here for my musician friend Phil Tipping (Philzound) who has further developed his Sample Aid tool which is fully demonstrated (with an Emu module) on You Tube.

Great device.
Back in the day when the world used hardware samplers Phil could have sold this software for some serious money. He is making this for the love of hardware not for money, that has to be applauded.

Maybe at some point these vintage hardware samplers will be regarded the same way as vintage analogue synths, if so watch the prices shoot up. Perhaps if that were to happen then the manufacturers would build new ones to meet public demand, just as they are now making some great new real analogues.
People do like their Virtual analogues and software emulations, but now they want the real deal to and they are prepared to splash out big money for them.

lol, Tell me about it. I recently spent £4K on a MiniMoog Model D !! :mrgreen:

The Roland Juno 6 I got yesterday really does sound like nothing else I have heard. Fundamentally, in todays age it's only really a very basic type synthesizer (with a very useful Arpeggiator) but the 'warmth' from it is something else (esp. from the Chorus FX function).

Anyway, I plan to try making some sample of my MiniMoog using Phil's Sample Aid software as I was very impressed with his demonstrations of Polyphinizing (if there is such a word !!) his Modular Synth.

Hi Paul
I find that 2 per octave is generally enough to get a realistic sound without eating into the samplers memory too much.
I would love some multi samples of a overdriven Moog with the output fed back through the filters (pure sweet filth)
If you get anything that sounds good would you post some here?
I'm more than happy the tidy them up, create the loops and build some cords around them for cont/control.

Hey JF,

Not sure if Phil told you or not, but I fell over on Xmas Eve breaking my leg and fracturing my ankle (for which I have had a metal plate and 6 x pins fitted !! And YES it bloody well hurt !! lol

But once I am up and running again ( :grin:

) I would definitely like to have a go at creating some sounds myself and sharing them. It is something I have wanted to learn how to do for a while now. And I have wanted a MiniMoog for almost 25 x years now (since I first heard 'Return To Forever' band). I also have a MultiMoog (1979) which is quite a rare instrument as only 3,000 were made and there are (apparently) less than 1,500 in the world in varying conditions (mine is 8.5 condition). I was offered a Hammond Organ for £450 cash from a guy in York's but I just have not got the room for it. And its a 4 x man lift to take it on a gig !! You would love the Juno 6 I am sure. Its like the Juno 60 but without memory. I got it for only £400 which is a great price as it had one owner and been safely stored away for 12 x years. It will sit and sound amazing on my Fender Rhodes !!

Phil got some excellent sounds from his Modulars using the Sample Aid and Emu.

Last year was largely spent studying some books on FM Synthesis, the EMU manual, and I have also been spending an hour a day brushing up on my Maths (because this is a real weak point in me understanding Synthesis and alike).

Your new kit is just amazing. Did you have to take out a second mortgage or sell your body for medical experiments? Haha

Hi Mark,

I literally just tripped over in my flat and totally hashed up my leg. There was no booze or drugs involved. I wish I had a better story for you !! I had an appointment this morning and they said I need another operation to remove some of the pins next month. More Codiene !!

The Juno 60 can sell for over double the price of a Juno 6 which is just silly. Yet people clearly do pay it !! I think its quite easy to get sucked in by the likes of eBay.

You can't beat a bit of retail therapy !! :grin:
