Postby emugonzo » Fri Dec 19, 2003 1:47 pm

Hi, just got myself a bank with the dredded left start zero bug on first sample of bank. Can't seem to get ridd of it. Does anyone know of a workaround? I've tried reloading the sample, but it the bug keeps comming back..

I think i've discovered the solution:
don't use preset000. I rebuilt the bank several times, and in the end it's finally working ok - afer substituting preset000 with preset001.
i think preset000 might be used like sample000, like a clipboard kind of thing. might be wrong..

after substituting preset000 with preset001.

Do mean that I should not use the first preset slot - P000 Untiltled Preset - the default one that shows up when you turn on the emu.

I haven't had the problem for a while which gives added strength to your theory as I haven't used the 000 preset for a while (mainly because I think it's untidy to use something numbered 000 - obsessive compulsive maybe ;) )

When you say substitute - do you mean copied it to 001 or something else?

Either way thanks because this can be damn annoying problem.

That's what I'm saying. Stay away from the tripple zero!

What I did was to clear the memory of the bank in question. I then manually imported all the presets in the bank one by one. Making sure none of them was loaded to P000.
Note that the sample giving me left start zero problems gets damaged very quickly after normal loading of the bank, but the very same sample is not damaged on the harddisk. (The damage is by the way sort of short white noise substitued for the first samples - sounds awfull).
That is why this operation works..

Sample slot P000 is the clipboard. I'm not certain this is what caused your initial problem, but in general I've found it best to always leave it open, lest whatever you place there get nixxed when you copy something else.

Rats. I'm foolish, and on my first post. You're talking preset, not sample. Nevermind.

So this "left start zero bug" basicaully replaces the sample, or samples in preset 000 with white noise?

What oes are you guys using?

So strange.

it overwrites the first part of the first sample on the sampler, usually S001, with white noise. And you can't edit any samples on the sampler - you get a message box saying error "left start zero" etc.

I'm on EMU 5000 ultra EOS 4.61 with rfx + rfx adat in/out
