Get the Ratoc CB31 CardBus SCSI

It won't work on Panther though. See info below from eFUNC on the emu mailing list

I have used the Ratoc card successfully with Peak, Spark XL, DSP Quattro
and SMDI under Mac OS X 10.2.6 however all these apps (excluding SMDI)
DON"T WORK under Panther.

has anyone gotten the ratoc firewire-ultra scsi converter (rf1sx) to work with an emu sampler? i just got one naively thinking it might be a simple install... but unfortunately, it's not working.
i'm on xp using soundforge as my smdi software.
thanks!

Yep, but it is a bit slow. I think it's eos 4.61 onwards but I may be mistaken.

How about trying the zip route. It's not the cheapest option however you could use 2 zip drives, one scsi attached to the emu and one usb attached to your ibook.

I have a scsi card connected to my computer but it's in a different room to my emu. I got fed up of constantly unplugging my emus external scsi hard drive and plugging it into the computer. Luckily I had a scsi zip bundled with my emu so I bought off ebay a cheapish usb zip and keep that connected to the computer permanently. Now I only have to swap the zip disks when needed (fat32 formatted on eos 4.7)

I suppose it depends on what your needs are, do you want to use the emu samples in your ibook for processing or sequencing or do you want to dump samples from your ibook onto the emu or something else??

yeah thats the idea, so your saying for example, get 2 zip drives (100mb) and just move on from the other? would the disks be compatiable?

i am tryings to dump samples, i guess i could get the floppy drive and be annoyed when using my emu, might have to do pads and bigger wavs on a soft sampler er somthin

it might be alright i mainly wanna use the emu for bass and drums and maybe some stabs/acid, and those are usualy under or about 1.44 megs

but i am using eos 3.00b and apparently you need 2 mb flash to use 4.0 and above

would the 2 zip drive method still work? still load wav files?

Doh, it sounds like you are using a non ultra emu, have you bought it recently? Please post up what spec emu you have. I think you may be in trouble here.

I have only worked with someone who's had translator on a PC but it definately did the job. I can't vouch for the mac version however my friend has pointed out that they've been pretty good at responding to emails so it might be worth getting in touch, I think they've got a freephone number for sales if you're in the US.

When you say that you mainly want to dump samples do you mean in both directions or is it a case of just getting stuff of your ibook into the emu?
