?Best buy of outputs for a E5000 ultra

Postby AX-AT » Sun Feb 08, 2004 5:23 am

Hi ! im a amateur d&b producer wich refuses to give up the hardware, even everyday gets more difficult and slow (and expensive) to work with them.

I bought the Emu5000 with the standar outputs, but now ive a Yamaha card (ds2416) and planning to get a 01v digital mixer.

On Emu site , almost all analog output requires the RFX card wich.. i really can afford, ive mail to sales and one time they say that still have those output on stock and later, they dont. and they offer me a pack with rfx and stuff.

So, if i want to get channels for separe to the mix,

I tought that the best choice will be to get the adat outputs, and get the adat expansion for my yamaha card, or even a 01 v with the adat interface.....right?......right???? im asking!

Does the compression sounds same on a analog output that on one digital output? i mean from the sampler to the 01v digital mixer?
Does that emu expansion need the rfx (on the site it does not say it needs)
Im in argentina, and dollar now is very expensive, and cant spend big ammounts, (ive to buy on ebay)

whats my best deal?
PS: if anyone likes dj teebee and got some productions tips please feedback.

thanks, and very good looking forum!.

Before RFX came along there was an 8 output analog option card.

Analog Output Expander Kit Model 6313

This will expand your E5000 to 12 analog outputs. This expander kit does NOT work with RFX. So if u can't afford RFX+8 RFX outs then look everywhere for the 6313 expander kit.

Im NOT a fanboy of digital processing or mixing stuff. Personally i find analog outboard compressors, eq's and mixing desks make the sound so much fatter and more character.

For d n b it makes more sense to mix/process in the analog domain...bass has to be heavy/fat drums need to be tight/tuff.

I think u need someone to take u by the hand an play u some sounds thru real analog compressors/mixing desks and then the same stuff in a digital desk with digital compression....i think this A/B comparison will help u understand.

Agree! but how do i buy something is not on emus"s site?.

Im tired of getting bad or no response by emu, ...its like they want to go right to the bottom"

Got any idea of prices of that analog outs? or anoher place to get it?? ive tried ebay of course, and major music stores (marsmusic, zzounds, etc)

thanks for the feedback!-
