What do you mean with "serial interface" ? I'm looking for a midi-interface that is very tight to hook to a G5 and another one to a PC laptop... Any examples or suggestions ?
cheers...

A serial interface is what is also known as a COM or a Printer port (in PC language that is).
Some users (well .. a lot of users) have complained about the timing of the USB interfaces in general.
Serial interfaces USUALLY didn't have these problems.
The computers did at that time though due to the lack of speed
.
Firewire interfaces should be extremely tight too.
Haven't had the chance to try it out myself but that is what I've heard.
Hope it helped out and answered some of your questions;
