problem with syncing external clock to sequencer

Postby to_daimonion » Mon Apr 12, 2004 10:19 pm

hey!
great to see a dedicated forum to e-mu samplers!! ive had my sampler a while now (e6400 ultra), i've found it superb for mangling sounds with! i've always used Sonar as an external sequencer, and recently tried to sync the external midi clock with an LFO rate. now i assigned a clock divider to the LFORt by 100%, and set the clock to external. the strange thing is, when i hold a note in the sequencer under that voice, it plays it how it should do. but during actual playback of the track, it doesn't sync it with the external clock! this became obvious when i routed the clock to the pitch (trying to find the root of the problem), and sure enough, the pitch modulated when i sustained the note but not when i actually scored the note into Sonar and played it back...to further debug the problem i actually set the internal midi clock of the E-mu to a random tempo, and again, it played it when i held the note down but not during playback.

i assume it is a setting within the sampler maybe?? or would you say that it is the sequencer?? the sequencer IS sending its external clock to the sampler, the green LED flickers, and also it does play the right note while i am sustaining it. it seems like it just ignores the midi clock completely during playback :s

any ideas would be much appreciated! thankyou.

welcome to emusonacid, and welcome to the mystery that is syncing LFO to midi clock!

viewtopic.php?t=76&highlight=lfo+sync

Setting the LFO rate using the calculator and then setting up the clk got the best results for me.

Good luck
