Intsead of getting the rfx card, why not just get the ADAT 8/16 card and then you can have as many effects on each channel as you like (providing you have the effects plugins) then if you got an analogue desk you can then get a d/a converter... Is this just as good?? or does the rfx offer more???

yeah, i've been using RFX and i'm glad i have it and all, but it's not THAT great. the effects themselves are okay, the modulation of them is fairly limited, and they never released the SysEx or whatever so people could write their own effect algorithms. if i was using my EMU for anything other than what i am (a simple e-drum trigger sound source), then i would get a REAL effects processor instead.
that and all the RFX are sold out at EMU anyway.
they do pop up on Ebay from time to time, but again, probably better off w/o.

resample, I guess . Maybe someone can tell me if they manipulate the rfx in real time while their tune is playing.

I do, however it's a bit limited. They dont even allow you to modulate the delay time on the delays - stupidity. You can modulate effect in/out and wet/dry level for all the effects though.

I think the more fun ones to modulate are the Stereo Grungulator (with it's realtime downsample option) and the Ring Mod.

I agree with Dugawug, if only they would release a developers kit for the RFX. They obviously took great lengths when designing the RFX to make sure it could be added to at a later date. It's not as if they'd be losing out because there are loads of better sounding algorithms out there, some of which are free and open source. To be honest I dont want smooth sounding reverbs - I want creative and dirty sounding effects!
