EMU 4X ROM Board

Postby tek_uk » Tue May 18, 2004 1:18 pm

Hi all, I'm a newbie!
I have an E4X (72 Mo, EOS 4.1, 2Go) which I don't use all that much but am willing to!
Is there a way to have my favorite bank always loaded in memory?
My vague understanding is that I couold do it be having a Flash Rom???
If true, then how do I do it, where can I guy flash rom etc...

Also, does anyone know where I could find the e-synth Rom and is it a worthwhile additione to a E4X

Thx
Laurent

I found thatb on their website> is this it?

ON SALE! You save 19%
32 MB Flash ROM
Use your E4 Ultra sampler to create custom 32 MB sound ROMs for your E-MU module, keyboard or command Station
In Stock (Available for Shipment)

$319. Not really what I would call cheap.
Are these EMU specific flash roms and can you buy them else where (like Pretec or that kind of place???)

Thanks

Well, I use my scsi hard drive in that way. I use Bank Auto-Load to pull up the same bank every time I power up.

Very handy.

And much cheaper.

Yes, that's the way I've been using it so far but it's slow and uses the hard disk, which can be noisy at times!
Anyway, got a reply back from EMU. They can do the 16Mo Flash for $150...

For Your E4X, You need to install the "6826" kit, which consists in a small modification of the polyphony board, the FlashRAM (2 MB) and the Flash 16 MB EEPROM

The 32 MB flash is for "Ultra" machines only.

Looks great thanks but unfortunately my EMU is not an Ultra, just a plain E4X...

they also have e6400ultra for sale for $500 straight from the factory. units still have the plastic film over the screen and smell fresh.

theres a couple of other people online as well with some e4xt ultras selling for real cheap at the moment. with all the options that are available at this times, i'd say getting an ultra is a good move.
