...the circumspect emu user will update using ONLY the 4.7 floppy to update from 4.61. if u use the flashprep (i used 4.1...BIG mistake, i thought u had to flashprep before every upgrade) you will taint yr Flash SIMM (part no. AP628-05) with bad code and be unable to boot or install ANYTHING. i see only the following errors:
verifying csum: 0x08860e57
csum failed: 8862db2 8860e57
(after attempting an install of 4.7)
"erase error 0xfc000005, stop........"
(after attempting an install of 4.61)
"invalid flash image"
(after attempting to boot from flash when install fails)
i have bn on a 2 week hellride w/ Emu tech support and EPR Electronics, their parts provider and service facility in Tampa, FL - it seems to hv finished w/ the worst possible outcome.
maybe it's punishment for havin paid so little , but now EPR wants me to send them the unit (which ive never bn able to use as i bought it used w/ no samples in it) for service, and suffice to say the estimated total w/ parts comes to more than i paid for this ting!!!
so...can anyone help me? got a flashburner, or a spare SIMM from a dead 6400u? if the word here is true, and in my limited experience it is, that's all i need...
hope at the vy least that this is helpful to anyone who just made, or is about to make, my mistake
