Deleting unwanted samples from a bank???

Postby ezman » Mon Apr 28, 2003 9:35 pm

Okay, today I loaded up a bank of stabs (100 of them!) so I could just scroll my way through till i found ones i wanted to use. Thing is that leaves 98 hanging about in the Bank which I don't want. Any easy way to get rid of all of these except the ones I'm using in the presets???

Thanks,
Ezman

maybe you can do something like

1 make a new preset with just the ones you want it in, then delete the one with 100

or

2 export them to a new preset

Ahaaaa...

Yes, i did actually do the second option. Am i right in thinking each preset has to be exported to a different (new) bank??? I will try the first option as well, sounds better :spliff: Thanks

what i do when i make a choon, i load all the presets that i want, my bass sounds, drums whatever, and after i have everything were i want it, lets say i finished the choon, i will hit the save button in the multimode screen, what that will do is actually create a new bank with all the presets you have, and even keep the levels intact also.
so when you load that bank, all the presets you loaded before are all there.

Yes, but that's just it - ALL of the presets are there - even the ones which aren't being used

Im not sure what the problem is exactly here. If you want to save 2 of your 100 samples make a new preset and add 2 voice, then selct the samples you want. When you delete the old preset from the bank, there will be an option to erase audio samples as well, select yes.
Now youll have a preset with just the 2 samples left. The only problem here is that if you want samples say 52 and 76 out of the first hundred, and you delete the rest, youll have 1-51 empty 53-75 empty and 77-100 empty. Not a big deal, but its a little messy

If your not using a preset, and you wanna delete it goto preset manage (selct the preset you want erased) and select util>>>erase
that will erase the preset

okay okay okay... how about this then...

so you have that giant preset with all those samples in it. write down, or remember what ones you want. then clean out your preset so it is empty again. now what you are going to do is go back into your file manage bit, the part that you loaded that preset in the first place, you have to hit browse if i remember right. now what you want to do move the highlight on top of the preset with the samples in it. now it browse again, you should see a bit that says "samples" select that. what you will see now is a complete listing of all the samples in that preset. select those stabs or whatever it is you are after and load those. you will find that they will load in the empty sample bank, if i can remember right. once you get the ones you want. you are actually going to have to place them, and now that you have done that you can export or save the preset and now you have a preset that is just those samples.

sorry for the foggy explaination... if you don't follow me, then i will have to go and write the steps down, it is hard to remember, it is all second nature. i guess i spend too much time in the studio and not enough time out side.

i hope this helps you out man. i misunderstood you the first time, but now i think i have it sorted. post on this if it works, and of course post if it doesn't. but i think you are sorted.

After you've scrolled through what you want - take note of the names of the stabs and then erase the emu bank (same as restarting the emu) then browse your zip disk or hard drive and load only the samples you want!

What I do is browse the samples live from the zip disk using the audition key! If I like them, then only load that individual sample.

Thanks all. I've now found the easiest way is to use Emu File Assistant for mac. It lets you save your multis on to the mac hd with just the presets you actually used. Then just load it again using Emu File Assistant, works a treat!
