Sending Audio to EMU from Peak 3.2

Postby 5c4r7 » Tue May 04, 2004 3:23 am

Hi, I have an E6400 w/ upgrades, running EOS 4.6.2 and I am trying to send an audio file from Peak 3.2 on my G4 400 running OS 10.2.8. with an Orange Micro 906f SCSI card The Mac can see the E6400, it can receive files from the sampler but when I try to send a 5 second audio file to the EMU, I either get the spinning rainbow beach ball that goes on forever or an error message that says the "SMDI device reject my request possibly because the device does not have enough memory" and I have 128mb's of free space in the sampler still. occasionally if I press edit sample, it gives me about a milleseconed of the sample, then it sounds like a short loop of digital noise. I read the peak manual, and the Emu manual, I've changed the cable, and I am not sure what else to try.

Any helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated.

hrm, u tried 10.2.6?

u tried an adaptec 2906 or 2930 card? Those Orange cards are renounded for being troublesome.

is there some way to downgrade from 10.2.8 to 10.2.6? I also tried doing this in 10.3.3 and 10.3.4. No Dice. I just want to xfer audio files from my G4 to my E6400. Any other suggestions?

I had SMDI error messages until I switched my scsi card to the Adaptec 2906. Not had a problem since and using Peak's batch dump.

After many tests, and lots of very helpful assistance from Drayon (another EOA user) I was still not able to get the Orange Micro 906f card to dump audio files properly into my sampler. It could see and operate my Zip drive, and even receive files from the sampler but, when I went to dump files into the sampler, the sound it created was nothing but digital noise. My advice, do not waste your money on the Orange Micro cards if you're planning on doing any audio dumps from a Mac to your EMU in OS X.

I will be picking up an Adaptec 2906 this week.

Thanks for everyones help.
