Muting voices

Postby Klaseed » Sun Jun 06, 2004 12:59 am

How do you all go about muting/soloing indivudual voices? I find myself wanting to do this a lot with drums, as I may want to hear just a cymbal by itself for example.

I currently use three different ways of doing this, none of which are ideal:

-Seperate each sound into it's own track in Logic, and Mute and Solo from there. Works fine, but ends up with LOTS of tracks in Logic.
-Use VelWin to disable voices I want muted (annoying, but if I'm deep into editing on the Emu I sometimes just flow with it).
-Set up knobs on my Oxygen to control volume of each voice. This is really time consuming.

Are there any other easy ways of muting and soloing in the bird?

I can't believe I've never seen that in the 3 years I've owned my Emu

Thanks

Or you can just go into the Voices Main screen and turn down the volume of whatever voice you want. Just slam the wheel to the left really fast. Bam. Bam. Yeah baby I love an EMU.

Yeah, that technique was my old standby. But if I've got some levels set up other than 0dB, I'd have to take a moment, remember those values, whack 'em to -96, then hope I remember 'em when I'm done. And my memory ain't that good, if ya know what I mean :pimp:
