ZoeOS 1.3

Just noticed the latest version has gone up at www.zuonics.com - I haven't tried it yet, but am downloading as we speak (heavy with anticipation of a help file)!

is this the version that will support playback of a midi file to your preset while editing?
i'm pretty sure a Zoeos rep got on here once saying that this would be a future addition.
i really would be more interested in this software if i could run a midi file to it and create/edit presets while hearing the results in realtime.

You can run it alongside a midi sequencer if you have a multi-client midi interface. If your interface is not multi-client there are other options - there is a support entry regarding this at http://www.zuonics.com/support.html

We will be including a graphical syncable midi sequencer in ZoeOS this year.

Most recent midi interfaces are multi-client - Steinbergs and Emagics work very well.

I use a Yamaha QY700 hardware sequencer alongside my 32 channel E4 Platinum - the machine has enough midi ports that I can use both ZoeOS and the sequencer at the same time.

hi again,
so wait, you're saying i can have my sequencer (Nuendo 2.0) running a midi file to my EMU using a multi client midi interface AND at the same time I can edit my E4XT Ultra with ZoeOS so the changes to the preset are heard in realtime?

if so, does this really work well without crashing much?!??

if so, i'd be interested on details of the unemployed/student discount. pm me please.

yea i've always wanted mess around with a QY700. i use a RM1x, and the specs look very similar. but you have 32 tracks on the QY700 right?

This does work, as long as you're not using Zoeos to send sample data to the Emu on the SCSI bus at the same time. Also, it does tend to bugger the timing of your sequencer data a little, though this might depend on your MIDI interface/sequencer/OS/day of the week etc.

thanks wigworld.
that's really encouraging. so you like working with ZoeOS far more than working with the EMU on it's own?
i don't know a ton about the software but any more pros/cons about it help as i'm close to throwing down for it.

do they have a trial version download?
