Postby niles » Sat Sep 04, 2004 10:25 pm

I'm new here and have been reading for a few months. Lots of knowledge here, excellent BB. Decisions, decisions, E4XT Ultra,,,I have an opportunity to get one with RFX, ADAT, analog input card, 4 gig hd, 128 ram, 9 Elll cd's,VitousOrch./ Ultimate Piano and Holy Grail Grand Piano Collections. Very light use in immaculate condition, $1050 USD. In light of the soft samplers available today, Do you think this is still a good choice? deal? I would appreciate some light anyone could shed on this.

buy it!

I bought my emu about a year and a half before they took a nose dive in price. I paid 2900 CAN dollars (umm, maybe 2300 USD) for a bare bones 6400 ultra. Maybe if you wait and look you might be able to buy something for $50 cheaper, but id just buy it and get started, thats a good price IMO

hope that helps

Thanks for the advice! Well, I did it and I aint sorry. This thing is friggin great! I really don't know how I ever lived without it,lol. It's absolutly mint, even the manuels are mint. This is my first day with it. I looked up and 12 hours had flown by. I'm very new to this and have alot to learn. I'm using Cubase (which is also new, never used a sequencer before) and wrote a couple of tunes using multi. The only strange thing I noticed was a high pitched feedback sound. It wasn't very loud but the only way I could get rid of it was to shut down. It happened a few times. Any ideas? Also, at times, while playing back Cubase tracks, the tracks would just go silent, then kick in at different times on different playbacks. Not sure if this is the Emu, Cubase, Evolution usb keyboard or something I'm not setting up correctly. I'll make sure I search before I post to many questions. Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for the advise.
