Timing Problems

Postby Omen » Sun Sep 12, 2004 3:02 pm

Hi,

Both myself and a mate r having timing problems with r emu's

If we stick a break in cubase an an identical break in the emu the two are slightly out of phase with each other when played and triggered from cubase. We both have tried it on r seperate emus and using different versions of cubase. If anyone can help we would be very greatful.

Cheers, Omen

That is because all midi equipment has latency(a slight delay),Cubase is sample accurate so there is no delay to your audio or softsamplers/synths.The steinberg midex midi interfaces solve this apparently but I have not used them.

Hi Silverman2,

im using a M-Audio Midisport 2x2.

robr - My other midi equipment dosent seem to have this latency?

If its due to midi latency how do i sort it out? Can i set cubase to be in sync?

Cheers - Omen

I have read somewhere that the Emus midi timing is not that tight when compared to some other bits of equipment. The Ultras were said to have improved on this slightly.

You are never going to get phase accurate timing using midi equipment.
However buying a dedicated interface like Unitor/amt8 for logic or the Steinberg midex(?) will certainly tighten things up.
