emusonacid! legacy

Hi all, I'm running EOS 4.1 on an E4X and am trying to upgrade to 4.61 or 4.7
I've downloaded the OES exe files and followed the instructions :
- put a floppy in,
- double click the exe
- type a: when prompted for destination
and then the DOS window disappears. Not too sure whether it's actually copied the image on the floppy then but the EMU doesn't seem to see anything as it ignores the floppy and boots up normally.
I've prepared the floppy on a Win2K machine.
Anything else I need to do?

well, trying to answer my own question, I have recreated the floppys from another PC. I think the one I used before had a doddgy floppy drive.
Anyway, it seems to have done something this time. So I booted my E4X with the Flash Prep floppy first, followed the instructions and then rebooted with the 4.62 floppy and everything worked fine. I am now on 4.62

I then tried with the 4.70 floppy and nothing happens. The e4X completely ignores the 4.70 floppy.

Any ideas???
Is 4.70 for ultra machines only? The main reason for upgrading is to be able to transfer samples between my Mac and my Emu so I want FAT formatting.

Unfortunately EOS 4.7 is for Ultra machines only.

arghhhhhhhhh, so there's no way I'll be able to exchange samples with my Mac (since I don't/can't have a scsi card on the mac).
The EMU is very nice but I find it very difficult to make the most of it.
If anyone's interested then, it might be up for sale.
It's a E4X, with RFX, Digi out etc... (you know the spec), 1Go drive, 72Mo, and zip drive.

Let me know if anyone's interested (I'm in London).

why can't u have a SCSI card?

Well, I do havean adaptec one but had to remove it because I have a UAD-1 and Powercore so all my PCI slots are taken I'm afraid.
The Adaptec is for sale as well by the way!

I do love the E4X and somehow, ahving an emulator makes me feel like I own a bit of legend.!!! But I find it difficult to make the most of it since I can't easily exchange samples between the mac and the E4x.

- i can't get it to 4.70
- Recycle OSX doesn't support Hardware samplers anymore
- Can't connect it to scsi (for the reason above)
- ZEOS doesn't run on OSX yet n(which would be the best option)

If only there was a way to easily make EMU or AKAI CD's on the mac...

I suppose it depends how often you want to swap files between your emu and mac. Personally I've never found myself wanting to get individual samples from the Emu into my computer, it's normally the other way round.

If it's a one way translation from computer to emu that you're looking for then I would be happy to help you out. Or do you know anyone with PC who wouldn't mind you installing Translator on it? I think I saw a post on here that some mac scsi cards work in PC's so if your friend was really nice then they might even let you put your Adaptec in their computer. Like I said before it really depends on whether or not you need to be constantly swapping samples back and forth.

well, I decided to bite the bulletb and bouth Translator EMU edition.
So I'll burn my own EMU CDs that way which might be the best way after all. The good thing is that it will allow me to convert some good EXS24 CDs as EMU CDs. Also, I 'll be able to create my own samples using EXS24 as the editor (which I find easier to use than the EMU screen) and then burn them as EMU CDs.

That should be cool!
