this is being worked on, right? anyone have any gossip on when something like this could be released...? 3 months, 6 months, years?
of course, EMU won't give me a damn clue about it

I'd say this is directly tied to a Mac version. It seems really unlikely that Emu will go with PCMCIA just for laptops, when they could go with Firewire and fill both the laptop and Mac markets at the same time.

I'd guess a year or more.

But Emu has become a strange company, so who knows?

yeah, i bet you're right. could be forever.
certainly not worth me waiting around for.
i just wanted to have a VST environment to create Presets in that I could save out and pop back into my hardware E4.

I think ZoeOS will be capable of doing something like that in the near future.... at least they show commitment to hardware Emu users....

hi, i asked Emu support thru email. As answer, they said that they didn't planned to release emulator x for laptop for the year to come because firewire or usb2.0 solution integration would have consequences on overall sound card quality. :???:

. A bit strange cause firewire seems to be a great alternative to pci embedded card !

yeah, sounds like b.s. to me.
i talked to them and they hinted that it was in the works, but not exactly right around the corner.
i bet it's out next year. maybe this winter NAMM, who knows?

My music instruments reseller told me that Emu was working on a Emulator X for laptop with PCMCIA support. The product should be released in 2005.

boyz, Firewire = latency and Firewire has a much higher CPU overhead than PCI.

I think the performance will be impacted to some degree especially with a DSP chip on a Firewire based solution.

It's here already for the 1616 and 1616M, but as you get to the higher performance cards, PCMCIA cards aren't going to cut it.
