What do you mean find a GM bank for the sampler? Are you saying that you want to play gm sounds through your emu? Next question is "Why" but to each his/her's own. If that is what you want, you might just have to sample a GM bank off of your sound card or something. I don't think they ever released a GM Bank CD sound ROM for the emu. I really didn't think there was a demand for it.

Hope you can find something. 127 sounds would get pretty old to sample and clean up and such. Especially all the setting up you would have to do.

On page 56 of the owners manual it shows that the Emu plays back standard midi files, at some point somebody thought of using one of these for this but a standard midi file has to have some kind of base to choose from so that the guitar will actually sound like a guitar instead of an oboe etc...I hope to use my two Emus for a solo thing and need to be able to playback standard midi files(for whatever this is worth). On one screen shot in the manual it actually shows different banks and "gm" is one of them, I was hoping to find one already made up.

Thanks for your help, I realize that playing to gm files is really lame and everyone here would rather not,so would I but where I live keyboard players are not exactly in demand in the grunge/alt bands that seem to abound here, so if I'm going to play it'll probably have to be as a solo act and midi files seems like the most logical way to do this.

A GM bank does exist. I've got it on a CD Rom that I got bundled with my Ultra. The CD is called 'Emulator Production Set' and the bank is in a folder called 'Combos'.

It's only 4 Meg but it sounds a lot better than alot of GM sounds I've heard before. I use GM all the time, it's a great sketchpad for ideas. If you haven't got the CD then I'm sure I could arrange to get it to you over the net somehow.
