Emu goes portable

Emu apparently announced cardbus-based interfaces at NAMM:

Of course, leave it to Emu to not have any info about this at all on their website

Still no love for us Mac users, but at least they're expanding their product line, which should be good news for the future.

Because I'm lazy, I'm going to post a link to a thread that basically sums up my concerns and excitement.

Personally I think it should have been firewire.

PCI (which cardbus is based on) is MUCH more reliable and efficient than Firewire.

Man I hate NDAs.

At last, it's out.

Time will tell if it's a success.

I feel it will be as it does address certain issues that were left wanting in a large marketplace.

How it performs is another issue.
I will drop a note when I do a review on it, if you guys want that is.

i'll hopefully tell you in a few days.

i bought emu mainly cause i love patchmix. I had an 0404 on my internet machine , i loved it so much i pulled out my MOTU 2408mk2 and now use it on my main music pc. just need more outs so i'm getting a 1616m .

you can get great deals on 1616m's via ebay.

yeah the cardbus thing is a bit weird and old, also its not really all that portable you need mains to run the breakout ( mic ins and outputs ect)

although you do get all the dsp chip effects and patchmix working via the cardbus and a stereo headphone out. so its tiny portable if need be ..but with no inputs and only 1 stereo out.

really a perfect model would be 100 percent portable ( for field work phantom ect) and have the patchmix and a dsp chip.

if you crossed all the best bits of a MOTU traveller with an EMU 1616m
that would be a top buy.

peace:)
