I`m trying to connect an E6400 Ultra (EOS 4.5) to a PC. I boot the Ultra first, then the PC (I read that`s the right order). Now, the SCSI bios identifies the ultra and its internal hd (the ultra itself shows as ASYN. Maybe someone know what that means).
Now Windows is starting, but at a certain point it just stops..

I assume there is no ID conflict because all SCSI devices show up (the PC has a SCSI hd and cd-rom).

In the ultra, Termination is set to ON, and "Avoid host on ID" is set to 7 - the PC SCSI card ID.


Any clues ?

i got my scsi termination not on...

emu is number 3

internal scsi drive is like 0

you might have to go in the bois and enable the scsi...

i got windows 98 se...works ok...

when windows boots up i see all the id numbers and then it tells me that there is a new unknown device and i go cancel...

asyn? i never saw that before...

i think its all in your bois...

i dont think the pc is supposed to see your internal scsi drive.

anyways i took that piece of junk out and put a bigger ide harddrive in it.
and made the wires for the ide power cable with a tutorial on this site...you switch the negative and positive ends of the power cable...and now i got a massive ide harddrive.

try to unplug you internal scsi drive and turn on your pc...see if it works first...seems to be a conflict...

Asyn measn that the device will transfer data to/from the pc <=>smapler asynchronous.
That means 5mb/s one message at a time din on deriction, verify/check this, acknowledge and send the next. Just like a Walkie-Talkie, get it? This is the slowest SCSI implemetation around, but this won't affect the funtionality at all. It is quite common for a sampler not to connect via SCSI at 160 or 80Mb/s

I had to install Adaptec's aspi 4.71 drivers to get my E6400Ultra to talk to wavelab, but it works like a charm.
