E64 csum error ...any ideas?

Postby M8SE » Tue Apr 05, 2005 9:25 pm

just beeen and tried to have my emu e64 repaired, on the phone the guy said it would probably fix it but no!!

i still get csum errors even after new scsi fuse??

CAN YOU ALL PLEASE LIST THE REASONS WHY YOUVE HAD CSUM ERRORS????

ive replaced the flashrom , the memory simms , detached all scsi and cables etc...

just the power lead in and boot, i get csum failed everytime, then asks for disk, then copies to flash. Then goes back to Csum failed FDC76cb (or some codes like that)

any advice welcome!!

any where to get Motherboards or spares or repair

(i just bought an MPC2000XL but im in need of those emu filters and CORDS again!!!!!)
oh .... not again !!!!

it gave me ideas first time around before i came to the conclusion that it was not flash rom as i bought a new one!!!

im in the middle of just hoovering the motherboard and clearing all dust - im really tired of putting it back together and seeing csum failed - no way of just booting around the csum check ????

??

"im just whistling in the wind"

this will sound silly.......

have you tried re installing or upgrading the software?

i remember years ago my old e6400 went a bit funny, saying stuff about checksum errors, and thats how i eventually fixed it

you may as well try by the sounds of it

FIXED IT!!!

I finally bought another E-64, and like a kid with a new toy i had to 'take it appart' just to see how i broke my other one....

well it was the CPU Flash rom after all that was giving me the csum error , and as you know if you read and helped on this first time around, that i replaced it twice with different ROMS can you beleive they were all faulty  which is why i assumed the motherboard was faulty!

Having said that the initial problem of me killing the scsi port still remains as i couldnt get it to recognise the SCSI ports (maybe get the scsi fuse replaced again)

well i do have one complete machine now , i just wish i could get my other 2 flash cpu roms whiped clean or erased?? anyone now where how?
and then i will have 2 E-64's
