Hi there,

I just posted this on the other forum and then realised it should be on this one. Sorry guys.

I'm a noob so please bare with me and excuse me if I miss anything that's completely obvious. I've just received an E5000 ultra, the problem is when I turn it on, it seems to boot fine, loads EOS 4.61, mounts SCSI drives (has a hard disk) and then goes straight to the MIDI mix screen under Multimode.

I can't seem to find my way out of this screen and the only buttons that respond are number pad and the rotary control which change the MIDI CC value from 0 to 127. I can't work out what I am doing wrong.

It's probably something really obvious, or else it's fried. Any help would be most welcome. Thanks a lot.

Assuming it's responding, press F6 which should read "Mode" on the lcd. Than press F1, or "Whole".

Is your e5000 a previously used unit? What happens when you hit the sample edit or preset edit buttons? If nothing happens when you hit either of those buttons then I'd say your e5000 has some serious issues. IMHO all buttons should functionally be working otherwise you're going to have a hell of a time making any tunes. That is of course unless you have the option of using software to interface with the sampler (zeos etc.) or you are able to hook up a QWERTY keyboard to the sampler. Hopefully it is just a problem with certain buttons and not a more serious issue. Buttons do wear out after a lot of use unfortunately.
