just got mine today, ive upgraded RAM and now i want to add a internal ide drive to the sampler.
where the hell is the power cable for a internal device ? the ide port is on the board, but where is a power cable ??

im not sure exactly what your asking here..but i can tell you this
I paid the $60 for the stupid dinky power cable off the emu site. It looks like a regular power cable but 2 of the leads are reversed. DO NOT USE A REGULAR POWER CABLE!!!! You will destroy your sampler
You can modify a regular one if your feeling brave, ill try to dig up some oinfo for you
As for where you find the power cable connection, its on the board right by where youd plug in the ide cable

I just did this about 2 weeks ago with no problem, of course I'm fuckin nuts:
1.)All you need is say a power supply from a regular computer case, something that has leads for both a hard drive and a 3.5 floppy.
2.) Snip off one of both kind of connectors from the power supply, being sure to leave enough length to go from the board, to the back of your HD when it's mounted against the case.
3.) Inside the EMU, you can quite obviously see where the power cable goes, it only goes one place!
4.) This is the 'tricky part' you have to splice the two cable together, its really simple, scissors, electrical tape. The thing is, just look at the power diagram above the power recepticle on your HD, it'll say something like [GND 5.5V 4.5V GND]
now,
look on the board of the emu, above the floppy power plugin connector, it'll have the same numbers, but perhaps in a different order, so....
Just switch the leads so the right power is going to the right pin, seriously it's that easy. Make sure your splices are tight, and turn her on...
presto.
Maybe I've been building and re-building computers for too long, but this project was remarkably simple, and I happen to have an old power supply handy, but you could even use the one you have in your PC, provided you've got extra leads you aren't using.
Also, I can't possibly see how this could 'destroy your sampler'. The only thing that 'could' happen, is you send hot juice (all 4 or 5 volts) to a ground on your drive, which could, in theory, mess it up.
but yeah, I did it, no probs, powered right up, and kept my $60 for the hooker I so desperatly needed.

Well Ive heard alot of horror stories on this subject, infact someone posted sometihng about them losing there whole sampler to this situation.
I didnt mind paying the $60 can for it (not true,m i was a bit upset but it worked out good so i cant complain too much)
