Syncing E4 with Cubase SX 3 crashing

Postby dugawug » Sat Jun 25, 2005 4:02 am

i'm curious if anyone does this or can help me figure out why i'm crashing doing this...most likely a "user error" somewhere but i can't figure it out.

i have Cubase set as a master clock, E4 (and a Machinedrum) set to external clock. midi runs out the computer to the Machinedrum through to the Emu.

the clock syncs up the machinedrum fine.

then it hits the Emu.

i have basically a preset that uses the clock modulators

basically, in CORDS, an easy example is setting a clock modulator (CK16th) to LFO1 TRG and amount anything above zero. now the LFO is clock synced, works fine. you can now take the LFO and modulate other things and they are BPM synced...take tons of things and modulate with different clock divisors and you can come up with some cool stuff...

anyway...

doing this in Cubase, it syncs fine and sounds great....but only for a little while, then it seems while i'm editing in the EMU, possibly without doing anything, Cubase hangs, then crashes.

it shouldn't...it seems almost like a midi feedback loop somehow, but it doesn't happen instantly, so i'm guessing not...

anyone with an idea??

or get urself a proper sequencer ;)
