e6400 Ultra won't turn on

e6400 Ultra won't turn on

Hi Have been having trouble with my E6400 ultra....
When I turn it on no lights come on can see the LED screen print some stuff but it doesn't illuminated I think the disk drive light flashes but thats as far as
it goes..It just sits there.... It wierd casue this started happening a year ago..One day It was working and then it shut off and this started happening left it for 6 months and one day it turned on no problem...worked for a couple weeks....the bam.......same story until a week ago..... shut off and won't boot up... help...

I'm starting to think it's just that the system is crashing cause there are some lights that go on I think what is happening is that it is hanging mid boot...Much the way an old mac would....Anybody know what button to press to do a hard reset

Try reflashing the BIOS again.

It might be a problem where the power connectors on the power supply connect to the motherboard. I had such a problem with my E4 Platinum. I took it to a technician here in Ireland and did something to fix it. Got it back and soon after the problem reappeared. Sent it back again - he had a look through some old service documents and found a problem where the voltage across the power rails would drop below specified limits and the unit would go down when trying to boot.

The solution? He soldered the power rails to the motherboard! It worked.
Cost me a lot of cash - 2 repair shop visits. So I hope I can save you money by sharing this.
