according to the emulator archive it goes:

Emulator I
Emulator II
Emulator III
Emax I&II
ESI range
EOS range

whats in the ESI range? whats in the EOS range? which is most recent? (i guess EOS seeing as it seems to go in that order). what do ESI and EOS stand for?

then i hear people talk about the E4 range, where does that fit in?

thanks.

If i got it right, the ESI-samplers range is a slighty newer and kinda stripped version of EOS-samplers. I'm not quite sure about what ESI stands for, but EOS stands for Emulator Operative System (or something like that). The E4-range is some emulators using the EOS, like E-IV, E4k, E4x, E-synth, E4 platinium, E4xt, E4xt ultra and so on. But I do think that you sometimes see "the E4-range" used as the same as "the EOS-samplers". I mean, an E6400 ultra is still a E4, right?

i see thanks, so the ESI, although newer, are actually less functional than the EOS/E4's? anyone care to go into the differences between the ESI/EOS(E4) ranges? is there an emu which is generally considered to be more capable than the others?

From the what I've heard the E4 Platinium Ultra is the most upgraded (and therefore best?) EOS-sampler. But, there is not so much difference between the samplers. Like, the only difference between my E-synth classic and the E4x is that mine come with the e-synth rom factory preinstalled.

Actually, the ESI series are older than the EOS series, the ESI series OS's are actually enhanced versions of the Emax and Emax II OS's.

This thread has been very helpful. Thank you to all of you! Just picked up a fully loaded (ADAT, RFX, etc, etc, etc) Ultra! :slayer:

Check out http://www.creativesampling.com/article ... /page3.php

The Esi-series came both before and after the Eos :)
