Emu ROM's in E6400 Ultra?

Postby poeticproductions » Wed Jan 11, 2006 11:26 pm

can an Emu E6400 Ultra take rom's from Emu hardware synths, like the Xtreme Lead-1?? THe reason I ask is, I have an Xtreme Lead-1, and an E6400 Ultra, but would like to get rid of the XL1 merely for real estate space in my rack... Is there any way I can take the Rom out of the XL1 and install it into my E6400?? (Besides sampling each and every program in the XL1) Or, as an alternative, does anyone know if I can acquire the XL1 ROM soundset in EOS format?

Thanks!! :slayer:

As far as I've heard, the EOS samplers will be able to read just the samples from the ROM - not the presets, so you would need to build the presets from scratch.
There are just a couple of ROMs that will fit into the samplers and work completely, but they're really hard to find: http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Samplers ... e4rom.html

Wigworld is correct. I'm trying to avoid spamming these forums, but my need for money is endless, and therefore I'm sorry for this: I'm selling a E-synth rom that will work in your ultra :)

Thanks Ole, I just sent you a message.

BTW, I saw quite a few of these Emu boards (like Xtreme Lead-1) for sale on ebay. Do you know guys know if these can be erased and burnt with whatever content you want like you can do with the other E4 boards?

by definition, they are sound ROM's (read only memory)... I'm 98% sure you cannot erase them and put whatever you want. Actually, just for kicks I took out my Xtreme Lead rom and stuck it in my E4XT and it comes up as "Audity 2000", looks like 128 presets, not 512 like when it's in my XL7. I was able to save the "Audity 2000" bank to my HD.

Do you mean you have 128 programs loaded (not just the samples) which you can use straight away?
INteresting about the 128 progs limitation. Is the Xtreme leads rom more than 16Mo?

The Xtreme Lead rom is a 32mb ROM. I've checked out the bank again, it's called Audity 2000 v10 and it's around 15MB with 189K of preset RAM taken. There are 283 presets, but I'm sure they aren't the same presets and as Audity 2000 module (had one) or Xtreme Lead (have one). I'm guessing they are the audity 2000 samples, I think the original audity 2000 was a 16mb rom and the audity extreme and xtreme lead were supposed to be all of those plus the orbit and planet phatt samples.
