Many Questions ... E5000

Postby sslneve » Thu May 18, 2006 2:36 am

Hello, I got a few questions here:

- I got an E-Synth ROM from an E4K in my E5000Ultra. Are there any places, where I can get more Presets for the ROM Sounds? The only ones I got are those on two Floppy Disks....

- Would an AES/EBU Expansion from my old E6400 Classic fit into the E5000?

- Can you recommend a silent (non-laptop) IDE HD for the E5000 (EOS 4.7)?

- Is there an efficient way how I could transfer my sampling CDs to HD to have them accesible instantly? I am looking for some copy functionality or something ... Could I do it with the PC? I cannot see the IDE HD (FAT32) on my PC when I connect the sampler via SCSI....

Thanks!

Partial answer:

I assume you can put the ide drive in a pc and transfer that way, I do the same with removable media. If you are getting a new drive you wont lose anything by trying. You can then use Chicken Systems Translator to transfer your banks.

Thanks ... do I really need Translator Pro or at least the special version, which is still 90 bucks? Or will the free version or some other tool do the trick?

I think the free version only sees the first bank/preset on an akai/emu cd. Download it and test, it may do you.

Ok, did that ... when I try to Load the one bank, the Sampler says "Sample Memory Full", which actually is not true ... is there something wrong with the conversion?

Sounds like it. Is that with the free version and what are you converting from? I just tested with an Akai disk using the free version (2.9 build 107 for PC) and had no problem. Try converting via another format or download some soundfonts or other soft sampler files to check if it's the input or output format that is causing the issue.

Yes, free version and a random akai disc... is there some setting you changed or is it the out-of-the-box config?

I dont think I've ever altered any of the options. I just drag the preset into the fat32 removable and choose eos bank as the destination format.
