re Audio dropout during playback of some VSTi's

Postby richardwh » Tue Jun 20, 2006 11:00 pm

Hi, I've been running my 1820m alongside SX3 for about two years with no problems. Then I decided last week to "spring clean" my pc. Now that I've restored my C drive to an earlier config using Acronis True Image I've been experiencing audio dropouts from some of my VSTi's. (By the way, my earlier C drive was backed up when everyhting was working fine.)

Only some VSTi's have this problem, and audio file playback is fine. Jamstix keeps dropping out for about a second out of every three or four, as do other instruments, whereas Kompakt plays fine.

Is this an ASIO problem?
My updates are all installed for the Patchmix and for SX3, but I was wondering if I unistalled SX3 and then re-installed would this solve my problem?

Help!

Thanks,
Richard[/i]

your problem is a simple one, get rid of the software and pick up a real sampler

Ok, so I made a mistake.

It would be brilliant if you could helpfully point that out rather than being a smart-arse.

Thanks again...

bitchy bitchy!

if i were you i would do a completely clean install.

going back to "previous good configurations" is a dicey game and as you have found out - can cause issues.

too many factors.

back up your files, documents etc..

reformat and then put your files back on.

if you have a 2nd drive just put everything on there and disconnect it.

then reinstall.

hope this helps

OK I solved the problem!!! (Are you sitting comfortably?)

After uninstalling and reinstalling SX3 and Jamstix I was getting nowhere, still having the same dropouts.

Then I decided to forget Jamstix and use Battery instead, even though I prefer the "real" drum sounds. I loaded up Battery and had no dropouts but couldn't get to grips with the sounds. So I re-loaded Jamstix and... yes! no audio dropouts!!!

It must have been some wierd glitch or something, I'm not sure, but its all fine now...

Thanks to everyone, and I hope this helps if anyone else has a similar problem...

(Lurkr probably already knew the answer... :biglaugh: )

nah, I wouldn't know anything about it...

and I wouldn't be asking my phone company why my water stopped working...

besides this being a forum for Emu hardware samplers, did you even have a problem with your Emu software? you didn't mention it...
