I'm running on eos 3.00b with internal hard disk .(cannot upgrade)

The disk is pretty new, it was formated with translator before mounting in the EMU.

Few days ago i can save one bank with some samples for a tune in my "Tune" folder.
Today it tooks me some hours to built a layered sound and when i try to save in an other folder i create for d'n'b it says : SCSI SW ERROR .

So i try to export in the tune folder....same error.
Then i try to copy ,export samples,presets, banks .. still SW error.

What can i do?

Understand that i buy my emu one year ago and i did no tunes with it because i could not mount an internal disc .
Now with the help of those people the HD runs and i just start to have pleasure with it....but again some troubles, i start to desperate .....i really love this tool.

i found on studiocentral that i have to turn off the undo but it did not solve the problem

I would connect it back to your computer and then backup the contents of the drive using translator.

Connect the drive to the Emu and reformat, preferably low level and test.

If it still doesn't work at this point then your drive has probably failed.

If it does work then connect back to the computer and put the stuff you backed up back onto the drive.

It is always better to format using the Emu, translator even says so in the manual.

Undo should make no difference to the functionality of your drive.

It is also worth investing in an external scsi drive for backup purposes for the future.

Many thanks Overdrive, i have formatted with the emu, but it never finish formatting: "illegal instruction error",when i bought this disk i try format in the emu and it was the same...the only solution was formating in the PC with translator.



my drive is 18 go, an i'm running os 3.00b,my disk may be to big?


and you know which external disk i could buy ? (i have a db25 to centronic 50pins cable which is very expensive and i would like to use it in the case of external gear.)

The one I purchased has both db25 and 50 pin centronics connectors and also ships with a scsi cable of your choice.

I think you are correct about the size limit of hard drives with v.3.00b although I haven't used a hard drive with that particular Eos version myself. I would check before purchasing if you're not sure.

I have tried it, and sure enough, it doesn't work. I had an 18G drive I used with an e-synth kbd, and just recently got an E4XT that had only 1M flash (so EOS 3.00B only). It's worse, because it sorta works... I knew the drive was good, and I just got an E6400 ultra that it works fine with (so the E4XT will probably be up for sale soon... it's nice, just wouldn't read the drive I had all my samples on :). It will read directories etc, but all the sizes are listed as negative, and if you try to load a bank, it says something like 'Can't find any samples'. Really irritating. A 9G drive should work fine though, and are still very cheap.

Definitely sound like a bad drive or something of that nature. The only time I had this error was when my old internal drive was dying. It would save to some sectors on the drive, but not others. I replaced it and it works fine now.

First of all you should knew all about termination of SCSI drive.

If you want to use HDD 18 GB then upgrade EOS to 4.62.
It is very simple. Just replace your 1 MB flash memory simm to 2 MB. You can buy it on e-bay

Thanks ALL, i did not see people answers here sorry.

i try to sell my 6400 because i was fed up with scsi and drive issues, but finally i bought a 2mb ram to upgrade in 4.62.
I expect my18 go drive will run now and opens scsi transfer with recycle.

I am not a seller. The seller is my friend. I am producer of this flash memory. We a selling them all over the world.

what does mean you are producer of memory ?

Why am I producer? Because I did it myself.
It is not original modul Flash Memory by E-mu.
E-mu finished support of owner of sampler so I decided to help them.

okay i understand ...but it was is never said in the ebay annonce, i thougt i was buying EMU memory not diy memory ....i paid 171?, not a clear bizness

Ok, you paid for Flash Memory for E-mu sampler.
Is is wrong? No.
The Flash Memory has made from the same material as original.
Memory is made at factory. Contacts are gilt.
It was tested and it work.
By the way, E-mu does not produce and does not sell Flash Memory any more. This is last place where you can buy it.
It is not a deceit. Your sampler will work with is new Flash Memory also as well as with original.

I hope you will not be disappointed.

PS I am engineer. I repaired production of E-mu in during of 7 years.

okay but the minimum is to say that it's diy and not original second hand emu memory. people must know what they are really buying.

for me no problem if it works but i want to know what i'm paying for, like you.. me... everybody!
