I can confirm Adaptec Usb2xchange doesn't work with XP!

So I found a good price on an Adaptec usb2xchange and decided to give it a try. I've heard they don't work with Xp but never actually from someone who's had 1st hand experience. I did see some guy on a French site once saying that he had the older Usbxchange communicating on a scsi chain with an E5000 and some other bits of equipment. To be honest I'm quite sure he didn't have it directly communicating with the Emu after my experience.

There are 2 big problems, firstly windows only detects the Emu once rather the 8 times as required, the main problem though is that it shows up as a usb device and not scsi, so Wavelab/Soundforge etc cannot see the adapter or your sampler.

I have an Adaptec 1480B anyway so its no big loss, its just a pain having to unplug my soundcard every time I want to transfer some samples. So to anyone whos been thinking of giving this a try on XP don't bohter, as far as I'm concerned its a no go!

E6400 Ultra and v4.7 Eos.

I don't think it will make any difference which sampler or Eos version you are using as the problems are with the pc side of things.

The Adaptec pcmcia scsi cards work fine, I use the Adaptec 1480B and it works like a dream, its just that my soundcard is also pcmcia so I have to unplug it send over samples.

I was only refering to the usb2xchange when I was saying it was a no go.

If you were to get one of the adaptec pcmcia cards I would try and get the 1480B its quicker, you can pick them up quite cheap on ebay, I got mine for about ?30-?40.

1480B=480mb/s

1480=20mb/s

Not sure if the speed really makes much of a difference when using with the Emu, I would have thought so. Its worth looking on ebay though just to save some cash.

emu work in scsi 1, 2 or 3 ?

i think it decides speed in the 1480B as it supports these three standarts !

You think ther is no problem to use it with an e6400 classic upgraded in 4.62 ?

I am sure both 1480 and 1480B will work with an E6400 with v4.62 Eos.

Its just I would have thought the 1480B would give you quicker file transfers.
