Mono Output Assign

Postby Dr.Sinclair » Tue Jul 25, 2006 8:13 am

just to let you know: i?ve been working with akai for 10 years now.
maybe it sounds stupid. i already read the manual, checked my e6400 ultra for hours. i hope anyone can help me.

how can i assign eg mono drum sounds to the analog outputs? emu?s outputs are all stereo. i think it?s not as easy as in akai os.

thx for quick reply!

Mono outs

Easy sir, like yourself i'm from an akai background, i hope you can uderstand this.

On the page where you have your multi set up with your programmes or presets in a list, assign to main or sub1, 2, 3 then pan left or right.

You can then check your samples page in the preset<programme  >page and pan accordingly and also in the "Amp" page in the filter section you can assign main, sub1,2,3 and pan.

Hope that is ok, took me a while but i did find loading akai old akai programmes in the emu via zip helped me get round the pages.

Peace, not grease

if you assign it in the Multimode you shouldnt need to set it up elsewhere, correct?

are you just sayin it can be done on a few different pages?

Ive found that sometimes i need to check all of those pages to make totally sure im getting it mono. an example would be if i load a preset that im assigning to a different chanel than what i saved it. Ive found checking those three pages will make it easier to solve the problem of having a stereo signal, process of elimination ive found....

hm.. am i right, that i always have to think about how many audio outs i need, before creating a preset ? eg i?d like to assign 5 mono sounds of one preset to 5 audio outs. this isn?t possible, isn?t it ?

You could I suppose by assiging 5 Groups in the preset and rout them across the 3 Subs, have 1 group panned left, 1 right the next sub 2 left, the next sub 2 right etc... but then your last sub will contain some stuff hard panned left if you used it in stereo, I suppose you could setup another group or use any other preset routed sub 3 hard panned right. It's possible, just a bit tricky and would take some thinking ahead. I suppose you could use the mian out as a stereo out if needed.

Aww, it's not that bad. You could spin it as being 'comprehensive' basically because of the huge number of ways that pan can be modulated

Personally I pan eveything in the voice, one of my soft key shortcut thingys takes me straight to the voice amplifer page bit and a quick +99 or -99 pans the voice to the correct position. I also use Groups an awful lot and with a few home made Preset templates you'll be whizzing through the settings in no time.

A very quick way is doing it by midi CC in the multimode screen. I've got a basic Control Freak profile that does Pan and is very handy for quick fixes but not so good if you have more than one voice in a midi channel.
