i used to have a scsi card that worked in my old g4 powermac but in my g5 they don't fit into the pci slots, anyone know of any way i can connect my g5 to my emu via scsi for sample transfers with peak?

I suspect that this won't actually work as Peak will be expecting an actual SCSI port with which to communicate. I believe all FW/USB to SCSI converters do is present the devices connected as either FW or USB devices and as such they won't be visible to Peak or any other SCSI transfer software.

There are a couple of threads floating around the forum where FW<->SCSI and USB<->SCSI adapters are discussed in depth; the result of which is that at this point in time the only way to connect a Mac, or PC for that matter, to a SCSI hardware sampler is via a dedicated SCSI port.

You will probably need a new SCSI adapter in order to achieve your goal but you might need to do a bit of trial and error in order to determine which one is EMU compatible

If you still have your old G4 you could, of course, dedicate it to the task sample transference!

network it up to your mac, get a cheap scsi card off ebay (i got mine for 99p) and use that just for samples

I've been experimenting with this same method myself. I've actually managed to get several samplers connected to the one PC, each with their own dedicated SCSI card, giving the ability to easily transfer samples to any one of them without the need to do the impossible by having them all connected via the one SCSI chain.

sounds like the best way to do it!

Never thought of doing it that way, I'll have to remember that when I next upgrade my pc.

Better yet, pick up a Beige G3, they have SCSI built right in.
